In the early 2000’s, Spectrem Air developed the ExplorHEM helicopter time domain system as a complementary tool to Spectrem₂₀₀₀ platform. It is used in severe terrain, in areas where fixed wings systems cannot operate.

The helicopter consists of a helicopter with a suspended EM bird. The helicopter houses all processing, recording and navigational instruments. The bird, which is suspended 40m below the helicopter, houses the power source, transmitter, receiver and control electronics.

The EM Bird measures just less than 20m in length and weights 350kg.

 

In 2009, Spectrem Air decides to suspend the operation of the ExplorHEM.
